"What are you doing?" Pike asked himself as he looked over at a sleeping Jim Kirk. She was curled up against his side, her head resting against his chest. His arm was draped along her back. This was so wrong. If anyone found out, both of their careers could be ruined. She would, most likely, lose the Enterprise if Command found out. They'd assume Pike showed her favoritism, based on their relationship, which couldn't be further from the truth. Suggestions would be made that he retire. Being an Admiral was no where near as much fun as being a Captain, but at least it was something. Retirement to him was like signing his death certificate, nothing left to do but sit somewhere and wait until the end.
