Tonia was asleep, which bothered Pike a little bit. At least if she were awake, he could be sure that she was still OK, or at least OK enough to have a conversation. The beeping equipment surrounding her added to the general feeling of uneasiness of the whole situation. Somehow, he managed to take solace in the fact that she was breathing on her own. It meant her body hadn't given up yet, even if she was planning to. He hoped she wouldn't.
