Pike was sitting in his office waiting for his latest troubled cadet. He didn't know why he felt the need to help cadets like Amara Smith, but he did. Pike supposed it was some sort of latent father instinct that never had a chance to develop. That, or he wanted them to succeed. His Yeoman announced the cadet's presence.
